Far too long has Dubai reveled in its lavish (partly messy) brunches with overgenerous (outrageous) buffets, free flowing drinks and opulent bubbly. For now, it’s time to place a spotlight on the brunches in the capital of U.A.E, Abu Dhabi.
A year ago, I experienced Koi Restaurant & Lounge as an a la carte dinner and was truly stunned with the sleek interiors and stellar menu with skillful knife abilities by the talented chefs at KOI decked in their professional whites displaying confidence. As it takes a lot to keep the white attire clean in an open kitchen, where one can view all your moves. Ask any chef or try cooking with plain whites as a matter of fact, braveness from my point of view.
KOI’s beauty elates as natural light highlights the curves of the restaurant and the unique ceiling design, with the mood set by the resident DJ spinning a mix of lounge music adding to the ambiance of KOI that sets a mark for an intimate dining.
The menu at KOI entails perfection in what one may or usually crave for in terms of fusion Japanese cuisine. The a la carte brunch menu features KOI’s signatures and favorites all in one page, which makes for an overall seamless brunch, as experienced.
I suggest you start with your preferred choice of drinks, be it soft, hard drinks or jump straight to the bubbly, either way, you must, if you enjoy a sweetened buzz, savor the signature KOI cocktail blended with cold sake and freshness achieved with plump lychee. Great start to the brunch!
A taste of steamed edamame, miso soup, creamy rock shrimp tempura, miso black cod, grilled sea bass are just a sneak peek into the best bits from the menu, with much more on offer for the taste buds to savor. To end with a sweet note, a selection of decadent desserts which are not overly sweet and cater an end to a balance brunch.
KOI’s fairly reasonable priced a la carte brunch introduces its strengths all in one brunch menu serving adequate portions style that’s filling yet leaves you craving for more with its faultlessness in terms of presentation and taste. Personally, KOI is a restaurant that’s well worth the drive to Abu Dhabi from Sharjah. Trust me, I’ve done it plenty and never regret, till date at least.
