I am genuinely astonished every time I visit Abu Dhabi, as over the years, the city has transformed tremendously surpassing my expectations of what I once called ‘the bore some capital’ in comparison to Dubai, the ever so lively Emirate.
Of recent, I’ve resorted to frequent weekend escapes or staycations to experience what Abu Dhabi has to offer and one of the most budget and business-esque options I experienced is Centro Capital Centre by Rotana situated in the exhibition district of the capital, Abu Dhabi, with a waterfront view, which for me, captivates the luster of the UAE capital.
Centro Capital Centre sets a tone for basic needs with a room decked in hues of yellow and brown portraying the contemporary setting across the hotel. The semi-fashionable Queen Slick Studio, my home (and it really was homey!) for the weekend provided the spaciousness one wishes for in any and every hotel escape with a queen sized bed dressed in perfect crisp white quilts and fluffy pillows. The room features a conformable size kitchenette stocked with basic thirst quenching needs such as complimentary water bottles as well and tea and coffee options. The entertainment aspect in the room is provided by a TV on a stand which is easy rotatable (movable) according to your preferred viewing choice.
Personally, the stand-out feature of the room was the unique door design of the washroom resembling the sidling doors similar to the ones on an airplane. The coolest feature in turn was also the downside of the stay, as I faced two issues due to poor maintenance of the washrooms. On the plus side, a call (complaint to be precise) was handled professionally and smoothly enough for the issues to be ‘fixed’ quickly during the extent of the stay. There’s always a rainbow at the end of the tunnel ey! Also, it helps if there’s a dedicated maintenance crew, 24/7.
The compact-homey accommodation deemed apt for a lay in, soaking in the sun rays and enjoying the seafront view from the room. Overall, a room which fits your needs during a stay in term of perfect air conditioning, comfortable bed and a closet large enough to fit my wardrobe of two days which I over packed for, as always!
Dining at Centro Capital Center:
The contemporary-chic decor spreads across the three dine-in outlets as well which adequately fits your various needs out of which, I mainly experienced c-taste during the duration of my weekend stay.
c.taste: an all-day dine-in restaurant with a simplistic menu with many, many continental items to please international taste buds.
The restaurants also caters a breakfast buffet every morning, serving the residents of the hotel a diverse breakfast eats, with the ever so common live cooking stations as well an eclectic mix of the much-needed morning sustenance options ranging from healthy to traditional.
I for one savored a good ‘ol English fry up with a side of fresh fruits and a yogurt mix to cancel out the weekend feasting, ha! Do try the omelet station, it is entertainment for the wee hours and not to mention, a delicious morning feast.
I did manage take a peek at c-deli: the twenty-four-seven café, quick bites (sandwiches, salads, pastries, chocolates and much more) and a convenience store all in one, at the hotel lobby, providing basic food and travel necessities which one may require. (There’s a Carrefour, a few minutes away from the hotel as well!).
All in all, a stay for the weekend which did exactly what I longed for – an escape from the hectic Dubai lifestyle with the hotel offering a calming setting, quick service and delectable grubs for one to relish during the stay at Centro Capital Centre by Rotana
Note, the washroom is not stock with basic needs such a toothbrush or toothpaste. Although, c.deli convenience store stock ups on all the basic toiletries and other basic aspects.
